Hello everyone,

I just wanted to share with you all, a telephone conversation I had a couple of weeks ago with a Trillium Foundation representative.

She explained that she was doing a follow-up call for our grant and asked me a few questions about the circulation, number of volunteers working at Hudson, etc.

I told her about Rebecca and I attending the Hudson Council meeting last July to obtain a commitment of sorts for continuance of the outreach project and the very positive response of your Council. I then told her about our training session in September and the establishment of a Friends group. (At this point, she was over the moon with congratulatory remarks). She couldn't believe the number of active volunteers and the circulation stats. When I mentioned that she could check you out on the Hudson website and told her about your "name the Bookworm" contest, she was beside herself. If you can believe it-she told me she was getting goosebumps as she was writing furiously, all that I told her. So I said "it gets even better- our New Liskeard Branch has hired one of the Hudson teen volunteers to work at the library and guess what-she won't work on Wednesday nights because she wants to continue to volunteer at the Hudson outreach library".

Well at that point, she really did seem very excited, thanked me profusely for the information and I haven't heard from Trillium since... I think it's safe to say that they found the whole project quite unique especially with such a small budget and they were obviously delighted that you folks are such a dedicated bunch to keep the Outreach library going. I don't know if anything further will ever come of this but I wanted to share this pat on the back with you all.
